COURTYARD LULLABY Wherein the deep night sky
The courtyard still in its sleep The stars lie in its embrace
"Come to me," it sings
And peace comes over your face. The ocean's rhythms pull
"Hear the pulse of the land
And when the wind draws strong
To hold your heart in its hand." So gathers memories.
Across the cypress trees
The nightbirds cease their songs
Where forests stretched to the east
Last night you spoke of a dream
A unicorn joined in a feast And each bird sang its song And in a corner stood
A pomegranate tree
No mortal eye could see
With wild flowers there Sure as the cock crows at morn
Yet still some mystery befalls
The world in stillness keeps The secret of babes to be born
"Don't go far from the land
I heard an old voice say
The seasons have their way
No mortal can understand.".
